Your website can go down for a number of reasons and in a number of different ways. This article is designed to help you identify the best way to ensure your website is back up and running as soon as possible.
Your website will typically go down due to three reasons: A web hosting issue, an actual website issue or non payment of services. If you are a Modern Visual customer and have purchased our Care Package, please call our office or send an email to Team@modernvisual.com.au for priority support. You can still Contact us but without the purchase of our Care Package, we may not be able to help you as a priority. Care packages can be purchased on the spot within business hours to receive priority support. Even if Modern Visual hosts your website, you are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of your website. Our care package takes care of most of your regular maintenance on your behalf, causing less issues and a healthier website.
Identify If The Problem Is Your Internet Connection
First things first, let’s check to see if your actual internet connection is the reason why your website won’t load. Sometimes your internet connection can be blocked from our firewall for a number of reasons which counts as the same issue.
If you are trying to access your website from a computer, turn off wifi on your mobile phone and try and visit your website from there. If your website loads then the problem is likely that your internet connection is having issues or has become blocked in our firewall. If other Australian websites are loading without a problem, please contact us.
Identify The Type of Error Message You Are Seeing
Sometimes when a website isn’t loading it can display an error message. Please see a list below of common errors and what they mean:

|Bandwidth Limit Exceeded||Your account has surpassed its monthly data transfer limit. This occurs if you have a big month of visitors or recently upoloaded large images or videos.||Please contact Modern Visual to increase your bandwidth limit.|
|500 Error||A problem has occurred with your website and the website needs maintenance or attention.||Contact Modern Visual or your chosen web developer to resolve the issue.|
|404 Error||The page you tried to visit is missing or doesn’t exist. This can also occur if your htaccess file has changed.||Contact Modern Visual or your chosen web developer to resolve the issue.|
|This Account Has Been Suspended||Your hosting account has been suspended automatically by our system due to non payment of accounts.||Contact Modern Visual during business hours to pay any outstanding accounts.|
|Blank White Page||A problem has occurred with your website and the website needs maintenance or attention.||Contact Modern Visual or your chosen web developer to resolve the issue.|
|Disk Quota Exceeded||Your hosting account disk space limit has been exceeded due to your website or email service.||Contact Modern Visual to upgrade your hosting plan or clear out your disk space in your email inbox or via cPanel.|
Don’t Panic! Your Website Can Always Be Restored
If your website is hosted with Modern Visual, we can restore a back for you free of charge. Backups are taken automatically by our system every 24 hours. If you are on our care package, we may be taking more regular backups, sometimes even hourly depending on the setup of your account. We will also restore a care package clients backup within the hour during business hours.
